And now, my friend, I have a couple of questions I’d like to ask you:
“As a Jew, are you someone who thinks that the way to go to Heaven (and escape going to Hell) is by being a “good” and moral person?
In other words, by striving to keep the Moral Laws best summarized in JEHOVAH’s Ten Commandments?”
That is what most people the world over think.
Perhaps even the majority of so-called “Christians.”
But God’s pure Word, the Bible (King James Version best), clearly teaches that ALL such people are dangerously deluded.
People who think they need to “work” their way into Heaven (by being “good” and doing “good” — see Psalm 14:3) have placed their immortal souls in perilous positions.
They have “bought into” but one more of Satan’s deadly, soul-damning lies.
Satan, that evil lying murderer (John 8:44) and the god of this world (2nd Corinthians 4:4), has been lying to sin-cursed, fallen mankind for nearly five thousand years. That is his full-time job.
That, along with trying to take as many human beings down into Hell with him as he possibly can. (See 1st Peter 5:8)
Satan HATES God, and Satan HATES all human beings. He is the most sinister and destructive created spirit being in all of God’s universe.
If you live apart from faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, you are one of Satan’s spiritual slaves. (2nd Timothy 2:26) Since you are now under his power and influence, you are actually on your way to Hell. And so, in all likelihood, are your loved ones.
Satan, that evil deceiver, wants to take YOU down into Hell with him… for all ETERNITY.
My friend, please don’t let that happen to YOU… or your loved ones.
Perhaps Satan’s deadliest lie is that men may enter Heaven and escape being consigned to the dark dungeons of Hell apart from faith — BELIEF — in the blood atonement and imputed righteousness of Israel’s Messiah, the Lord Jesus Christ, ALONE.
For example, Popery — also known as Roman Catholicism — is one of Satan’s most deceptive and dangerous strongholds. It teaches this very thing.
Its soul-damning doctrines continue to destroy individuals, families, and, yes, even entire nations.
(America and England are both good examples of how Popery and prelacies destroy nations. How? By fatally poisoning, blighting, and eviscerating the minds of millions of so-called “Christians”. Within but one, two, or three generations “We the people” become the unthinking, docile slaves of covetous, paternal, “caretaker” governments and states. Wherever church “traditions,” ritualism, and priestcraft are added to YAHWEH’s pure and perfect Word, God’s Gospel of Grace and call to holy, righteous, God-dependent living is lost. NEVER FORGET: Men must either be directly ruled by the holy, just and loving Triune God of Scripture… His Ten Commandments and the dictates of His pure and infallible Word — the King James Version Bible best — OR… be dictated to by greedy secular humanist tyrants, atheistic government bureaucrats… and Christ-hating Marxist Socialists, Communists, and statists — see 1st Samuel 8: 8-18. Hundreds of millions of Roman Catholics are now dangerously deluded by doctrines of demons. (1st Timothy 4:1)
Wouldn’t you agree that if someone believes in the teachings of demons, it only stands to reason that that person will go to the same place as the demons — Hell?

And that is trying to keep God’s Moral Laws (i.e., being “moral”) as the basis and way of becoming right with God… WILL ONLY CONDEMN YOU!
God’s Ten Commandments are good, pure, holy, righteous, and just.
But their design is mainly to condemn, not to save men from the just punishment of their sins in Hell.
You see, only faith in Christ the Messiah’s blood atonement can blot out ALL your past, present, and future sins — and place you in the right standing with God.
NOT law-keeping. And NOT faith plus works.
Only faith alone in Christ saves and justifies a man from the condemnation of his sins and eternal punishment in Hell.

The Sad Tale of a Brooklyn Orthodox Jew
A few years ago I was driving down the highway and tuned into Michael Savage’s talk radio show. At the time, Dr. Savage was talking to an Orthodox Jew named Moishe from Brooklyn, New York.
Savage was speaking to someone he liked exchanging ideas with.
Their conversation had a philosophical bent. They were talking about the meaning of life, that kind of thing.
What got my attention was the last question Savage asked the Orthodox Jew, and then his amazing but sad answer.
Question 37. How did Christ, being the Son of God, become man?
A. Christ the Son of God became man, by taking to himself a true body, and a reasonable soul, being conceived by the power of the Holy Ghost in the womb of the virgin Mary, of her substance, and born of her, yet without sin.
Question 38. Why was it requisite that the mediator should be God?
A. It was requisite that the mediator should be God, that He might sustain and keep the human nature from sinking under the infinite wrath of God, and the power of death; give worth and efficacy to his sufferings, obedience, and intercession; and to satisfy God’s justice procure His favor, purchase a particular people, give His Spirit to them, conquer all their enemies, and bring them to everlasting salvation.

"Well, Moishe, what do you think happens to you after you die?"
That is what you might call a serious question, right?
Yes, my friend. That is indeed a serious question because… though most of us would rather stick our heads in the sand and not think about it too much (The Ostrich Syndrome)… still… the hard Biblical truth and fact is that DEATH… apart from faith in the blood atonement of the Lord Jesus Christ… is but one of the awful, dreadful, grim realities of human existence in JEHOVAH’s six, 24-hour-day created universe.
As a matter of fact… you might even call DEATH (apart, that is, from FAITH… or BELIEF… in God’s Son the Lord Jesus Christ) … THE ULTIMATE GRIM REALITY.
Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.
And DEATH (and Final Judgment) is certainly something that we… and our loved ones (the people most dear to our hearts)… must all someday face (hopefully later rather than sooner).
Today, there are no exceptions.
In the short, sad, tragic history of our FALLEN, SIN-CURSED RACE (the HUMAN Race, for we ALL descend from Adam and Eve… and then Noah and his seed after God obliterated nearly all of mankind in His Great Flood — cold, hard, FACTS that neither the Christ-hating government school “teachers” unions, nor today’s demonic… wicked… rabble-rousing RACE HUCKSTERS want your children to know about)…
… ONLY TWO MEN have escaped the icy fingers of Grim Reaper.
One was Enoch, of whom the Bible tells us that he walked with God. (Genesis 5:24)
The other was JEHOVAH’s legendary prophet… God’s Iron Man… Elijah the Tishbite, who was taken up into Heaven alive by a chariot of fire:

An Urgent Appeal
To All Truth-Seeking Jewish People...
But let’s be real. You and I are not modern-day prophets of God. Nor are we Iron Men in the faith the way that men like Noah … and Abraham… and Moses… and Joshua… and Gideon… and King David… and Elijah … and Daniel were. No. Those men, though guilty sinners (all men are), were spiritual GIANTS!
And more than that, YAHWEH Himself had personal dealing with each of them. He either spoke to them directly … or indirectly through His Holy Spirit-inspired prophets, angels and priests.
So let’s get down to brass tacks: You are going to die …and so am I.
What was that? You say you don’t believe what you just read about God’s Iron Man the prophet Elijah being taken up into Heaven alive in a chariot of fire … by JEHOVAH’S fiery steeds?
You say you think that God’s pure, infallible Word, the Holy Bible, is mainly a bunch of fairy tales and myths… rather than a factual, historical, supernatural revelation?
Frankly… if that is true… then I must tell you… that we are wasting each other’s time.
You see, in writing to you today I am going to PROVE to you … beyond any shadow of doubt … by using God’s pure and perfect Word the Bible (66 Holy Spirit-inspired books) … that not only is Jesus Christ Israel’s rejected Messiah … but that He is also the eternal I AM … the Creator of the universe… and the second Person of the Trinity.
Question 70. What is justification?
A. Justification is an act of God’s free grace unto sinners, in which he pardoneth all their sins, accepteth and accounteth their persons righteous in their sight; not for anything wrought in them, or done by them, but only for the perfect obedience and full satisfaction of Christ, by God imputed to them, and received by faith alone.

So… instead of recognizing Him as the eternal I AM (John 8:58) — yes, God manifested in the flesh (1st Timothy 3:16) — your Mohammedan “theologians” try to pawn Him off as having been a mere human prophet. But that is blasphemous nonsense.
SOUL-DAMNING blasphemous nonsense!
For if you believe that… then… in truth… you have NO SAVIOR to pay for your TENS OF THOUSANDS OF SINS… the sins you’ll be racking up tonight… and the sins you’ll be committing tomorrow.
In other words, you are DOOMED! If you die in your present unregenerate state (see John 3:3), you are definitely going to go down into Hell the minute you die.

My friend, you need to EDUCATE YOURSELF. Fast! And if you really care about your loved ones — your mother, your father, your brothers, your sisters, your friends — you’ll need to educate yourself so that you can share JEHOVAH’s Gospel of pure Grace with them, too. Otherwise, they too will perish in their sins; they too will go down into Hell the moment they die.
Think, my friend, THINK. Not just for yourself, but for your loved ones too. You had better wake up!

Noah's burnt offering was like Abel's, and Abraham's resembled Noah's. So, instead of blowing your stack (or blowing something up, which is what those wicked Mohammedans did on 911, and who are now down in Hell — and will be cast FOREVER into the lake of fire (see Revelation 20:14) — for violating JEHOVAH’S 6th Commandment), why not just read… listen… do some serious THINKING for yourself… and then thereby learn something important for both yourself and your loved ones?
Believe me, my friend… when you come right down to it… proclaiming and standing up for the Lord Jesus Christ (the Creator and Upholder of the universe) will be the ONLY way you will EVER be able to do any REAL and lasting good in this wicked, fallen, sin-cursed world of ours.

The Real Purpose Of An Open Mind
Now remember: the real purpose of an open mind (if you’ve got one) is to close in on TRUTH — NOT to be open to every kind of cockamamie… insane… man-made philosophy (or religion) that comes down the pike.
Take socialism, for example. It is a massively destructive, diabolical political philosophy (world view and ensuing governmental system) if ever there was one.
It slowly turns small governments into massive… bureaucrat-run… debt-laden Leviathans… and then into Marxist, Statist, Totalitarian “gods”.
And worse still, it also turns whole societies into covetous, mealy-mouthed, effete dependents. Or… into brutal, Godless, totalitarian killing machines — such as characterized Hitler’s Germany, Stalin’s Soviet Union, and Mao’s China.
Historically, and today, the high priests of socialism (meaning: totalitarian-style Statism and/or Communism — they are both offshoots of socialism) have wickedly and foolishly attempted to take a FALLEN, SIN-CURSED planet earth and remake it into their own version or variation of an EVIL, Christ-rejecting communist or socialist paradise.
But it’s a FOOL’s ERRAND… and ends up a FOOL’s “Paradise”… because it goes directly against what JEHOVAH — the Creator of the universe and Judge of all the earth — has plainly told us about ourselves and our lost, fallen condition (within the pages of His pure, perfect, infallible Word, the Bible).
On top of that, our Triune JEHOVAH has handed us His BLUEPRINT for individual, family and national economics: FREE MARKET CAPITALISM — to be conducted within the framework of His Ten Commandments, which He Himself wrote in stone before handing them over to Moses on Mount Sinai. (See Exodus 31:18)

But what that means is that I subscribe to the teachings of the Westminster Confession of Faith & Heidelberg Catechism — two of the greatest documents ever formulated and penned by the minds of men. Both are thoroughly Calvinist; both are 100% Biblical.

Many so-called “Christians” actually are.
Spiritually speaking … they can’t even add 2 + 2. True, some of these nice, well-meaning folks might indeed be Christians… or Messianic Jews. (They are basically one and the same thing.) But, the problem is, theologically speaking, many of them have marsh mellows for brains.
(Marsh mellow brains is exactly what you get when pastors depart from JEHOVAH’s ordained Regulative Principle of Worship and “lead” congregations in singing touchy-feely, uninspired hymns (accompanied, of course, by pianos … organs … electric guitars … slide projectors… choirs… or worse.)
Because … once you have been regenerated by God the Holy Spirit … ‘Born Again’ is how the Lord Jesus Christ Himself puts it (See John 3:3)… REPENTANCE, which means a change of mind, will — no, MUST — inevitably follow.
Repentance, that is, from ALL forms of stupid, foolish, idiotic LIBERAL thinking.
(Not to mention, of course, all indwelling Hell-deserving personal sins: idolatry, adultery, fornication, drunkenness, laziness, lying, lust, Sabbath breaking, slander, theft, pride, covetousness, etc., etc., etc., the list goes on and on, doesn’t it? These are daily fights, skirmishes and battles within our own hearts and minds which we must wage war against until the day we die. See 1st Peter 2:11)
For example, not only will you immediately seek to unite yourself with a Bible-believing Calvinist Protestant church (although now as rare as hen’s teeth, preferably one that holds to exclusive psalmody during worship services), you will also immediately STOP voting for JEHOVAH-hating politicians who legislatively support (and finance) infanticide … “rights” for homosexuals (and other types of poor, confused, lost deviants) … and any and all forms of socialism.
Why?
Because God absolutely HATES the sins of murder, homosexuality and socialism.
Moreover, JEHOVAH has promised HELLFIRE FOREVER for those who both practice AND promulgate such wickedness.
Maybe you’re thinking, “I understand that murder and homosexuality are two wicked, vile sins, but what’s wrong with socialism?”
The answer is simple. Socialism, you see, sets up a rival “god” to Himself. And, from what I can deduce from Holy Writ… and from what history has ABSOLUTELY PROVEN… socialism violates JEHOVAH’s 1st, 4th, 6th, 8th, and 10th Commandments.
And because, as a system, it violates at least five of JEHOVAH’S 10 Commandments, socialism as an economic system is both sinful AND insane.
(What is INSANITY? The definition is simple: Any world view or sinful law, policy or practice that will act as a catalyst or influence to send you or others down into Hell forever.)
Socialism is a FALSE “god” … a soul-killing, totalitarian idol that will provide you with not one scintilla of hope or comfort on the day you die… when you will step out into eternity with but one of two destinies awaiting you: Heaven or Hell.
(There is no such place as Purgatory, which is but one more of DOZENS of soul-damning lies peddled by Roman Catholicism.)
You see, the high priest’s of socialism wickedly believe that all religions are equally true (or equally false), and that men do not possess IMMORTAL SOULS that are individually made and individually accountable to the Lord JEHOVAH alone.
In other words, socialists — the whole lot of ’em — are actually evolutionists — be they the communist variety or the totalitarian statist kind. They would have all men to be subservient to the “god” of the state rather than to YAHWEH, the eternal I AM. Which explains why tens of millions of people have been murdered, killed or starved to death by atheistic socialist and communist governments.
A quick aside: the renown Greek philosopher Aristotle was a totalitarian statist himself. And his attitude toward the working tradesman was one of contempt, whereas the Lord Jesus Christ, the Creator of the universe, earned His living by the sweat of His brow as a carpenter, before He embarked on His evangelical mission to be the Redeemer of the Father’s elect.
My friend, BE CAREFUL whose writings and works you choose to study and believe. Lenin and Mao studied and believed the works of Karl Marx. Hitler believed in evolution. Result: TENS OF MILLIONS of murdered men, women, and children.
America’s liberal politicians – today’s high priests of secular humanism – are actually modern disciples of Charles Darwin. They are evolutionists. Result: Over fifty million BABIES have been MURDERED in what was once a God-fearing Protestant nation. But even more important than that, young people need to know that the ONLY WAY they can possibly escape the guilt and condemnation of having violated God’s moral laws (summarized in His Ten Commandments) is through faith (belief) in the BLOOD ATONEMENT and imputed righteousness of Israel’s Messiah … the Second Person in the Trinity … the God-Man … the Lord Jesus Christ, ALONE.
My friend, you can get started as soon as next week by teaching them yourself out of the Heidelberg Catechism. G.I. Williamson’s commentaries on the Heidelberg Catechism and Westminster Confession of Faith are outstanding. Why not order a couple of good used copies today — in fact, right now — from Amazon?

HERE’S THE BOTTOM LINE: Politically speaking, ALL cultures are inferior — BY FAR — to Bible-believing CALVINIST PROTESTANT CULTURES, where their majorities of people are self-reliant, simply because they are GOD-RELIANT.
They place their trust wholly and solely in the One, true, living God… the Creator of the universe, most accurately revealed in the 66 books of the King James Bible — Father, Son, Holy Spirit — rather than the false, satanic “gods” of Socialism and Big Government.
The same thing, of course, was true in Old Testament times. All nations and cultures were inferior — FAR INFERIOR — to Yahweh’s Hebrew Republic (God’s chosen few among all the tribes and nations of the earth).
As a matter of fact, one of the reasons WHY JEHOVAH ordered Joshua and the Israelites to UTTERLY DESTROY the nations and tribes that occupied Canaan was because they were wicked, sun and moon-worshiping IDOLATERS — many of whom actually sacrificed their own children (their poor babies were actually burned alive in the flames) to their false “god” Moloch.
The point you need to get, my dearly beloved Jewish friend, is that today’s Bible-believing, God-fearing, Psalm-singing Calvinist Protestants actually make up today’s NEW TESTAMENT ISRAEL.
(Not exclusively. But Psalm-singing Calvinists who strictly hold to the Westminster Confession of Faith … and JEHOVAH’S clearly revealed Regulative Principle of Worship… are most certainly representative of His most faithful earthly Christian “tribe.”)
And so, my beloved Jewish friend… if you really want to love, serve, worship, honor and obey the God of ancient Israel (the One, true, living, and ONLY God)… and really seek to please Him … then you too will want to become an adopted child and follower of God through faith alone — BELIEF — in Israel’s Messiah, the Lord Jesus Christ.

But God… I think… has a different plan in mind for eventually punishing them)…
… and … let’s face it … America is now probably just two or three election cycles away from becoming but one more Socialist third-world Hell-hole — all thanks to the “American” people having embraced Satan’s SOUL-DAMNING IDEOLOGY of LIBERALISM.
And we deserve what’s coming to us, too. In fact, when you consider just how low that we … as a nation … and as a people … have fallen, we deserve worse from our great, TRIUNE JEHOVAH.
A LOT worse.
My friend, you can only ignore what you have just read at you own personal peril.
But just remember one thing: JEHOVAH is going to have the LAST and FINAL word:
“The wicked shall be turned into Hell, and all the nations that forget God.” Psalm 9:17
Of course, the eternal destiny of your soul will depend on what you decide to do with the information I now want to impart to you in this letter.
Please don’t be put off by anything I have said thus far. JEHOVAH is a mighty, sovereign King. He is the Creator (in six literal 24-hour days) and ruler of the universe, and He is deadly serious in His personal promise to exact vengeance upon ALL Christ-haters … ALL atheists and secular humanists … and ALL sinners (that’s you and me) … that is, those of us who refuse to take, grasp, and accept His divine remedy for sin.
And God did just that (took vengeance), for example, in the days of Noah … when only eight souls out of the millions of people that walked the earth … were SAVED from being SWEPT AWAY in the stormy wrath of God’s Great Flood … and then sent to Hell. Fact, not fiction.
An so, my beloved Jewish friend, I would ask you to please note the similarity between the closing passages in the last chapter of Isaiah … and what the Lord Jesus Christ tells us about what HELL will be like in the New Testament book of Mark:
“Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.” Ezekiel 18: 13 (emphasis added)
“And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the Lord. And they shall go forth, and look upon the carcases of the men that have transgressed against me: for their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be quenched; and they shall be an abhorring unto all flesh.” Isaiah 66:23-24 (emphasis added)
“And whosoever shall offend one of these little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea. And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having to hands to go into hell, into the fire that shall never be quenched: where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, then having two eyes to be cast into hell fire: Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.” Mark 9: 42-50 (emphasis added)
What Will Hell Be Like?
I don’t know the answer to this question. I have never been there myself, though, but for the grace of God, I will freely admit to deserving to go there ten thousand times over. You see, JEHOVAH is a just, holy Judge, and He MUST punish every sin … along with every sinner who dies apart from faith ALONE in the blood atonement and imputed righteousness of His beloved Son … the Second Person in the Trinity … Israel’s long-awaited Messiah … the God-Man … the Lord Jesus Christ.
But, I do know of a man who is eminently qualified to describe what Hell will be like (and is like) for ALL God-haters … meaning, for all those who REFUSE to come to the Father through His only begotten Son – the lost, the non-elect. You have probably never heard of him. He’s know in Reformed (i.e., Calvinist) Christian circles as “The Prince of Preachers.” I like to refer to him as “The Shakespeare of Protestantism.”
(My beloved Jewish friend, I would also urge you to listen to the sermon on what Hell will be like, by Presbyterian minister Edward Donnelly. Why? Because you need to know, in part, just what it is that God the Son saves you from! You can find the link five paragraphs below. Should you choose to do so, you will be listening to part three of a four part series on the Biblical doctrine of Hell.)
His name is Charles H. Spurgeon. My friend, PLEASE READ what the late great Charles Spurgeon had to say about what Hell will be like for the eternally damned (meaning, everyone who dies apart from faith in the imputed righteousness and blood atonement of Christ ALONE:
“Do not conceive, O moral man, that thou wilt be able to stand before God in thy morality; for thou art nothing but a carcass embalmed in legality, a corpse arrayed in some fine robes, but still corrupt in God’s sight. And think not, O thou possessor of natural religion, that thou mayest by thine own might and power make thyself acceptable to God. Why, man, thou art dead! And thou mayest array the dead as gloriously as thou pleasest, but still it would be a solemn mockery…
The third kind of death is the consummation of the other two. It is eternal death. It is the execution of the legal sentence; it is the consummation of the spiritual death. Eternal death is the death of the soul; it takes place after the body has been laid in the grave, after the soul has departed from it. If legal death be terrible, it is because of its consequences; and if spiritual death be dreadful, it is because of that which shall succeed it. The two deaths of which we have spoken are the roots, and the death that is to come is the flower thereof. Oh, had I words that I might this morning attempt to depict to you what eternal death is. The soul has come before its Maker; the book has been opened; the sentence has been uttered. “Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels…” (Matthew 25:41) God’s sentence has shaken the universe and made the very spheres dim with the frown of the Creator. The soul has departed to the depths where it is to dwell with others in eternal death. Oh, how horrible is its position now. Its bed is a bed of flame! The sights it sees are murdering ones that affright its spirit; the sounds it hears are shrieks, wails, moans, and groans! All that its body knows is the infliction of miserable pain! It has the possession of unutterable woe, of unmitigated misery. The soul looks up. Hope is extinct – it is gone. It looks downward in dread and fear; remorse hath possessed its soul. It looks on the right hand — and the adamantine walls of fate keep it within its limits of torture. It looks on the left — and there the rampart of blazing fire forbids the scaling ladder of even a dreamy speculation of escape. It looks within and seeks for consolation there, but a gnawing worm hath entered into the soul. It looks about it — it has no friends to aid, no comforters, but tormentors in abundance. It knoweth naught of hope of deliverance; it hath heard the everlasting key of destiny turning in its awful wards, and it hath seen God take that key and hurl it down into the depths of eternity never to be found again. It hopeth not; it knoweth no escape; it guesseth not of deliverance. It pants for death, but death is too much its foe to be there; it longs that non-existence would swallow it up, but this eternal death is worse than annihilation. It pants for extermination as the laborer for his sabbath; it longs that it might be swallowed up in nothingness just as would the galley slave long for freedom, but it cometh not — it is eternally dead. When eternity shall have rolled round multitudes of its everlasting cycles, it shall still be dead. Forever knoweth no end; eternity cannot be spelled except in eternity. Still the soul seeth written over its head, “Thou art damned forever.” It heareth howlings that are perpetual. It seeth flames that are unquenchable. It knoweth pains that are unmitigated. It hears a sentence that rolls not like the thunder of earth that is soon hushed — but onward, onward, onward, shaking the echoes of eternity — making thousands of years shake again with the horrid thunder of its dreadful sound — ‘Depart! depart! Depart, ye cursed!’ This is the eternal death.”
God's Appointed Remedy
Sinner, art thou legally condemned this morning? Dost thou feel that? Then, let me tell thee that faith in Christ will give thee a knowledge of thy legal acquittal. Beloved, it is no fancy that we are condemned for our sins: it is a reality. So, it is no fancy we are acquitted: it is reality. A man about to be hanged, if he received a full pardon would feel it a great reality. He would say, “I have a full pardon; I cannot be touched now.” that is just how I feel.
Brethren, we have gained legal life in Christ, and such legal life that we cannot lose it. The sentence has gone against us once — now it has gone out for us. It is written, “There is … now no condemnation,” and that now will do as well for me in fifty years as it does now. Whatever time we live it will still be written, “There is, therefore, now no condemnation to them who are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.” (Romans 8:1-2)

The first thing I want you to know about me is that I myself grew up in a false religion — Roman Catholicism. How false, you ask? Well, let me put it this way: False enough to send you down into Hell forever — that’s how false! Just as one example, Roman Catholicism teaches as doctrine that there is a place called Purgatory; the place that most Roman Catholics go to when they die. But, the strange thing is, I’ve never read about “Purgatory” in my Protestant King James Bible.
In fact, compared to what I have read in my Bible about what happens to a man after he dies, “Purgatory” is actually a crazy idea. It’s crazy because it’s a lie. And lies, as you probably already know, can be dangerous.
(All lies are actually dangerous because to lie is to sin — to lie is to violate God’s 9th Commandment. But this lie is especially dangerous because it hands over to someone the non-Biblical notion that you just might get a second chance after you die … provided you weren’t an ax murderer or serial rapist while you lived. But remember this: our whole world is totally screwed up today because of that … one, single … teeny-tiny … “little” sin committed by Adam and Eve in Eden.)
But, the biggest (and deadliest) LIE of all that they peddle … is the notion that you can add ANYTHING (your morality … good deeds … church membership … law keeping … sacraments … etc., etc., to the finished work and perfect righteousness of Israel’s Messiah, the Lord Jesus Christ.
That’s why we are going to get into the Biblical doctrine of Justification by Faith alone … which is taught from cover to cover … from Genesis to Revelation … throughout God’s pure Word, the Bible.
The next thing I want you to know about me is where I’m coming from. By God’s grace, I am what is called a Reformed Protestant Christian. In terms of a classic definition, Reformed means Calvinistic.
Calvinistic means Calvinism; and Calvinism is a type of systematic theology that holds to the sovereignty of JEHOVAH in all things relating to His universe and His creatures living in it.
For example, believe it or not, the fact that you are reading this today is by JEHOVAH’S eternal decree — that’s right, it was planned by God before time began, in eternity … so please make the most of it.
Now, in case you should ever decide to become involved in starting what I am calling a Messianic Protestant Reformed Church … I would want you to understand and grasp the benefit of making darn sure that your new church becomes a confessional Messianic Protestant Reformed Church.
And for that reason, what I am going to do is “sprinkle in” … here and there … excerpts from classic Protestant Confessions … such as The Westminster Confession of Faith and The Heidelberg Catechism.
A few paragraphs back, I just said that you are reading this today because it was eternally decreed by God for you to be here right now reading this. Can I back that up? Absolutely. Let’s read, for example, what the Heidelberg Catechism has to say on the subject of God’s providence:
Lord’s Day Question 27: What do you understand by the providence of God?
Answer: Providence is the almighty and ever-present power of God by which he upholds, as with his hand, heaven and earth and all creatures, and so rules then that leaf and blade, rain and drought, fruitful and lean years, food and drink, health and sickness, prosperity and poverty — all things, in fact, come to us not by chance but from his fatherly hand.
Lord’s Day Question 28: How does the knowledge of God’s creation and providence help us?
Answer: We can be patient when things go against us, thankful when things go well, and for the future we can have good confidence in our faithful God and Father that nothing will separate us from his love. All creatures are so completely in his hand that without his will they can neither move nor be moved.
Now, that is what you might call a power-packed theological insight, don’t you think? Listen: the fact that nothing … absolutely nothing … happens by chance in God’s universe is a very valuable insight for you to have … yes, as you make your journey through the wilderness of our fallen, sin-cursed world.
Here are but five Scripture verses (out of hundreds I could choose from) that you should put into your “philosophical pipe” and smoke tonight, showing … proving … that JEHOVAH is sovereign in ALL things … yes, even the salvation of your soul!
(Salvation, that is, from ETERNITY in HELL.)
The lot is cast into the lap; but the whole disposing thereof is of the Lord. Proverbs 16:33
I am the Lord, and there is none else, there is no God beside me; I girded thee, thou thou hast not known me, That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the West, that there is none beside me. I am the Lord, and there is none else. I form the light, and create darkness; I make peace, and create evil; I, the Lord, do all these things. Isaiah 45: 5-7
For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. So, then, it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that showeth mercy. For the Scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might show my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth. Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth. Romans 9:15-18
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ, According as he hath chosen us before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him, in love Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, To the praise of the glory of his grace, through which he hath made us accepted in the beloved; in whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace … Ephesians 1:3-7
That in the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God — not of works, lest any man should boast. Ephesians 2: 7-9
The Orthodox Jew's Answer
Get this: after being asked by Dr. Savage what he thought would happen to someone after he died … the Orthodox Jewish man said… he didn’t know!
What? Are you kidding me?
I ask you: What is the point of being an orthodox Jew if you haven’t a clue as to what is going to happen to you on the day you die? Such ignorance is not only astounding … it’s sad.
But worse than being sad, it’s DANGEROUS! After all, what could possibly be worse than dying … and then waking up in Hell?
And then realizing that you are going to be down there … FOREVER!
Now, for those who are interested in doing so … and because I want to continue to emphasize the importance of becoming a confessional Messianic Reformed Protestant Christian church… I want you to read what The Westminster Confession of Faith … Protestantism’s greatest creed … says happens to your soul upon death:
Chapter 32:
Of the State of Men After Death,
and of the Resurrection of the Dead
1. The bodies of men, after death, return to dust, and see corruption: but their souls, which neither die nor sleep, having an immortal subsistence, immediately return to God who gave them: the souls of the righteous, being then made perfect in holiness, are received into the highest heavens, where they behold the face of God, in light and glory, waiting for the full redemption of their bodies. And the souls of the wicked are cast into Hell, where they remain in torments and utter darkness, reserved for the judgment of the great day. Beside these two places, for souls separated from their bodies, the Scripture acknowledgeth none.
2. At the last day, such as are found alive shall not die, but be changed: and all the dead shall be raised up, with the selfsame bodies, and none other (although with different qualities), which shall be united again to their souls forever.
3. The bodies of the unjust shall, by the power of Christ, be raised to dishonor: the bodies of the just, by His Spirit, unto honor; and be made conformable to his own glorious body.
Chapter 33:
Of the Last Judgment
1. God hath appointed a day, wherein he will judge the world, in righteousness, by Jesus Christ, to whom all power and judgment is given of the Father. In which day, not only the apostate angels be judged, but likewise all persons that have lived upon earth shall appear before the tribunal of Christ, to give an account of their thoughts, words, and deeds; and to receive according to what they have done in the body, whether good or evil.
2. The end of God’s appointing this day is for the manifestation of the glory of his mercy, in the eternal salvation of the elect; and of his justice, in the damnation of the reprobate, who are wicked and disobedient. For then shall the righteous go into everlasting life, and receive that fullness of joy and refreshing, which shall come from the presence of the Lord: but the wicked, who know not God, and obey not the gospel of Jesus Christ, shall be cast into eternal torments, and be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power.
3. As Christ would have us to be certainly persuaded that there shall be a day of judgment, both to deter all men from sin; and for the greater consolation of the godly in their adversity; so will he have that day unknown to men, that they may shake off all carnal security, and be always watchful, because they know not at what hour the Lord will come; and may be ever prepared to say, Come Lord Jesus, come quickly. Amen.
And so, my Jewish friend, that is my answer to Moishe … to you … and to anyone else who might be reading this letter; this, letter to my Jewish friends. And with what you’ve just read, it sure is something to think about, don’t you think?
And now, let’s start digging into the Scriptural and Confessional proofs for the Biblical teaching that the all men … from all periods of time … meaning Old and New Testament … were made righteous in JEHOVAH’S site strictly on the basis of faith alone in Christ alone. For the benefit of all my beloved Jewish friends (and anyone else who might be reading this), that is what i am now going to prove.
And it’s gonna be a long, hard ride, so hold on to your hat!

Old & New Testaments Scriptural Proofs For the Biblical Doctrine of Justification By Faith Alone
For the benefit of you, my beloved Jewish friends — today’s descendants of the only surviving tribe of the original twelve tribes of ancient Israel, Judah — it’s only fit and proper to first list a number of Old Testament Scripture passages that prove the biblical doctrine of Justification by Faith Alone in Christ Alone.
Along with that, as a corollary, we may also assert the little realized but astounding biblical truth that… the whole Bible is Christianity! I would like to add that this is a momentous truth that is best best understood when studied through the accurate lens of Reformed/Calvinist theology.
For example, here is the astounding (but true) assertion from the Westminster Confession of Faith, perhaps Protestantism’s greatest systematic summary of the central truths of Holy Scripture:
Chapter 11:
Of Justification
4. God did, from all eternity, decree to justify all the elect, and Christ did, in the fullness of time, die for their sins, and rise again for their justification; nevertheless, they are not justified, until the Holy Spirit doth, in due time, actually apply Christ unto them.
6. The justification of believers under the Old Testament was, in all respects, one and the same with the justification of believers under the new testament.
Now, the Old Testament passages that prove justification by faith alone in Christ alone are neither as numerous nor as clear-cut as those in God’s Holy Spirit-inspired New Testament.
This super-important truth of Justification By Faith Alone In Christ Alone as the sole means whereby God saved His elect throughout the Old Testament millenniums can only be deduced by placing Scripture passages and biblical truths along side of other biblical truths and Scripture passages.
Why?
Simple. Because the account of the life and death and resurrection of the Israel’s Messiah — the Second Person of the Trinity, the Lord Jesus Christ — could only be seen and understood by God’s Old Testament saints through the rituals of the God-ordained sacrificial system, as well as certain implicit and explicit passages of Old Testament Scripture.
O.K., let’s get started. We’ll begin in the Garden of Eden, right after Adam and Eve — mankind’s federal representatives — FELL … and plunged all of mankind into a state of sin, Misery, and DEATH.

“And the Lord God said unto the serpent (Satan), Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust thou shalt eat all the days of thy life. And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; he shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. Genesis 3: 14-15 (emphasis added)
The “seed” of the woman was … and is … Israel’s Messiah … the Savior of the world — Christ — who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary.
Satan did, in fact, bruise Christ’s heel. Nails were driven through His feet at the Cross of Calvary. Christ was crucified for the sins of God the Father’s elect.
But Christ dealt, in turn, a death blow to Satan’s kingdom and power.
(Not only that, but here, in above text, and not far removed from God’s finished work of creation and the very dawn of time, we see the foreshadowing of salvation by substitution. Christ, the second and last Adam — our new federal representative — triumphed over sin and death.)
“Wherefore as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin, and so death passed upon all men, for all have sinned. Therefore, as by the offense of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation, even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. Moreover the law entered, that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound. That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 5: 12, 18-21
The great and final atoning blood sacrifice was made by God’s only begotten Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.
Then God the Father ratified his approval of His Son’s atoning sacrifice … by raising Christ from the dead.
One of the tenets of biblical Reformed theology — Calvinism — is that … because of the Fall … all of mankind is now born into this world with an inborn disposition to sin. This is known as the doctrine of Total Depravity (the “T” in TULIP).
Here is what the Heidelberg Catechism says on the subject:
Question 7: Whence, then, comes this depraved nature of man? Answer: From the fall and disobedience of our first parents, Adam and Eve, in Paradise, whereby our nature became so corrupt that we are all conceived and born in sin.
Question 8: But are we so corrupt that we are wholly incapable of doing any good, and inclined to all evil?
Answer: Yes, indeed; unless we are regenerated by the Spirit of God.
O.K., let’s move on to the next heaping helping of God’s pure and holy writ, also from Genesis:
“And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it repented that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. And the Lord said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them. But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord… The earth was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth. And God said unto Noah, the end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth…And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under Heaven; and everything that is in the earth shall die. But with thee I will establish my covenant; and thou shalt come into the ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy sons’ wives with thee.” Genesis 6: 5,7-8, 11-13, 17-18 (emphasis added)
As I mentioned earlier, we know the rest of this factual, historical account. With the exception of only eight people, everyone and everything upon the earth — men, women, children, babies, toddlers, pets, birds, farm animals, lions, tigers, bears, dinosaurs — was obliterated by God’s Great Flood.
Of the millions of people who walked the earth in those days, only eight people were spared from being slaughtered by the towering waves of God’s angry wrath.
Think: where are those millions of people who perished in The Flood right now … this very minute?
My friend, I don’t like saying it, but you need to know the truth — they are now down in Hell.
And listen — if you’re not scared about the prospect of spending e t e r n i t y in the dark, fiery caverns of Hell yourself, you should be.
Because… since God has created YOU a living, rational (and therefore accountable), immortal soul… right now you’re heading in but one of two directions: up or down, Heaven or Hell.
WARNING: Again, my friend, beware.
There is no such place as “Purgatory” — a halfway point between Heaven and Hell — which is actually a lethal lie taught by Roman Catholicism to this day.
Now ask yourself a question. What made the difference for Noah and his family? The answer is found in Genesis 6, verse 8:
"But Noah found GRACE in the eyes of the Lord."
In other words, God CHOSE to save Noah and his family… out of all of the millions of people then populating the earth. It was an early example of what the Bible refers to as the election of grace. And speaking of grace… and speaking of the Jews … this is what Paul wrote on the subject of grace as it relates to our beloved Jewish friends today:
“I say, then, Hath God cast away his people? God forbid. For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin. God hath not cast away his people whom he foreknew. Know ye not what the scripture saith of Elijah? How he maketh intercession to God against Israel, saying, Lord, they have killed thy prophets, and digged down thine altars; and I am left alone, and they seek my life. But what saith the answer of God unto him? I have reserved to myself seven thousand men who have not bowed the knee to the image of Baal. Even so, then, at this present time there is a remnant according to the election of grace. And if by grace, then it is no more of works; otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then it is no more grace…” Romans 11: 1-6 (emphasis added)
Onward …
Important Soul-Saving Truths All Jews Everywhere Need To Know
If charted on a graph, God’s revelation to the Jews of Justification by Faith Alone in Israel’s Coming Messiah Alone would show a series of peaks, followed by sizable depressions marked out by long historical accounts of God’s chosen people going far afield from Him … by falling into all manner of false worship and pagan idolatry.
(For not worshiping God HIS WAY, the consequences were deadly and practically unsparring. The curses and punishments God threatened His people with in Deuteronomy chapter 28 were meted out in spades. The cycle of God’s people going apostate and then eventually returning to Him was repeated many times over the course of many centuries.)
One such passage of Scripture that helps to prove Justification by Faith Alone in Israel’s Coming Messiah Alone is Genesis 15: 6. But we’ll begin at verse one:
“After these things the word of the Lord came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceedingly great reward. And Abram said, Lord God, what wilt thou give me, seeing I go childless, and the steward of my house is this Eliezer of Demascus? And Abram said, Behold, to me thou hast given no seed: and, lo, one born in my house is my heir. And, behold, the word of the Lord came unto him, saying, This shall not be thine heir; but he that shall come forth out of thine own bowels shall be thine heir. And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the number of stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be. And he believed in the Lord; and he counted it to him for righteousness. Genesis 15: 1-6 (emphasis added)
There are a number of applicable subsidiary doctrines surrounding the life of Abraham… which… when you think about it … aren’t actually subsidiary at all. Rather, they’re fundamental to understanding the Old Testament doctrine of Justification by Faith Alone in Israel’s Coming Messiah Alone.
They are ALL tied in with each other. For example, the biblical doctrines of Predestination and Election.
The Sovereignty of God in Salvation
As a Jew (or anyone of any other faith for that matter), you’ve probably heard it said that the Jews were … or are … “God’s Chosen People.”
Right?
And you know what? There can be no doubt about it. The Jews were … at one time… “God’s Chosen People.”
(In a way, they still are today. Read the Scripture verses from the New Testament Book of Romans, chapter 11. There is a remnant of true Jewish believers in Israel’s Messiah because of what God calls “the election of grace.”)
But let me ask you something. Who did the choosing? The answer is simple. JEHOVAH did the choosing.
(Specifically, according to the New Testament, the Father did the choosing … in eternity … before the world was made … before time began. Each of the three Persons of the Trinity play a direct role in the salvation of a soul. The Father chose whom He would elect to salvation; the Son came to earth to pay the price of sin for the Father’s elect and to uphold the honor of God’s Laws; the Holy Spirit applies the work of Christ to God’s elect in the new birth.)
No argument there, right?
Listen — It only stands to reason that… IF the Jews were indeed the Chosen People, THEN it was God who CHOSE them.
The Jews didn’t choose God … and couldn’t have chosen for themselves to be God’s people — even if they had wanted to.
For after all… how could you choose to have a relationship with someone you don’t actually know … have never heard about before … and don’t even know exists?
Not going to happen, right?
Look — it only stands to reason that God had to reveal Himself to Abraham and his patriarchal descendants… because …otherwise… they wouldn’t have had a clue as to who God was. Agreed?
Well, that is exactly what happened.
“For thou art a holy people unto the Lord thy God; the Lord thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all the people upon the face of the earth. The Lord did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people. But because the Lord loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn unto your fathers, hath the Lord brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of Pharaoh, king of Egypt. Know, therefore, that the Lord thy God, he is God, the faithful God, who keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations, and repayeth them who hate him to their face, to destroy them; he will not be slack to him who hateth him; he will repay him to his face. Thou shalt, therefore, keep the commandments, and the statutes, and the judgments, which I command thee this day, to do them.” Deuteronomy 7:6-11
God did reveal Himself to Abraham … and to Issac … and to Jacob … and to Moses … and to all of God’s Holy Spirit-inspired Prophets… and through them to His chosen people the Jews … over the course of nearly 3600 years.
(I could be wrong about that, meaning the precise span of time. Moses, of course, wrote the first five books of the Bible. According to my math, this makes our world approximately 6000 years old. The Christ-hating secular humanists won’t like what I just said… but really … who cares what they think? Because… unless they repent of their rather irrational belief in the thoroughly irrational … unscientific theory of “evolution” … what the Holy Spirit-inspired writer calls ‘science falsely do called’ (1st Timothy 6:20) … then they too will follow all the residents of the earth at the time of Noah’s day; they too will be banished by God into the garbage dump of human history – HELL.)
So let’s go to the end of this logical thread…
… IF God chose to reveal Himself to Abraham … and IF God chose to save Abraham and his family from the idolatry and pagan practices that must have characterized Ur of the Chaldean’s… THEN… logically … I ask you … HOW could Abraham ever have found favor with God through morality … good deeds … acts of charity (good works)… ritualism … sacrifices… law keeping… or being an all around nice guy?
My friend, I sure hope you’re starting to realize the rather obvious answer: He couldn’t possibly have!
So what’s all this mean? It means that we can logically conclude… that salvation (from sin and Hell) is all of God’s grace!
Meaning… sovereign grace… God’s grace in election … predestinating grace. In other words, exactly what the Bible teaches — all 66 Holy Spirit-inspired books.
It means that the Jews of Old Testament times… just like the Christians of today … are saved (from going to Hell) by the grace of God … which only comes to them through faith in the blood atonement — the putting away of sin — by the God Man, the second Person of the Trinity, Israel’s Messiah, the Lord Jesus Christ.
A Brief History Of The Life of Abraham ... God's Friend And The Father of The Faithful
What does the Bible tell us about the life of Abraham? Many, many things (for example, that he was one of JEHOVAH’S Iron Men, because of the strength of his faith), but I’ve only got time and space to touch upon a few:
I. First of all, God's Word tells us that Abraham was the friend of God.
We’re told about that fact in King Jehoshaphat’s prayer to God for help against Judah’s military enemies, recorded for us in 2nd Chronicles, chapter 20:
“O Lord God of our fathers, art not thou God in heaven? And rulest not thou over all the kingdoms of the heathen? And in thine hand is there not power and might, so that none is able to withstand thee? Art not thou our God, who didst drive out the inhabitants of this land before thy people Israel, and gavest it to the seed of Abraham, thy friend? … O our God, wilt thou not judge them? For we have no might against this great company that cometh against us, neither know we what to do; but our eyes are upon thee. And all Judah stood before the Lord, with their little ones, their wives, and their children… Then upon Jahaziel, the son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, a Levite of the sons of Asaph, came the Spirit of the Lord in the midst of the congregation; And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou King Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the Lord unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of the great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God’s.” 2nd Chronicles 20: 6-7; 12-15 (emphasis added)
Remember what happened next? Well, God’s people took Jehovah at His word. In fact, so strong was their faith that Jehoshaphat directed God’s divinely appointed congregational choir and singers to go to the front and lead Judah’s army into battle the following day… where… as it turned out… God then caused the Ammonites and Moabites to ambush Israel’s primary enemy — the inhabitants of Mount Seir … and then to have the Ammonites and Moabites turn their swords against each another… to slaughter one another.
Every word of Scripture has been supernaturally revealed and inspired by the Holy Spirit… and is therefore pure, perfect, and infallible. But in the next instance of Abraham being referred to as the friend of God, it is JEHOVAH Himself speaking:
“But thou, Israel, art my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham, my friend; Thou, whom I have taken from the ends of the earth, and called thee from the men thereof, and said unto thee, Thou art my servant; I have chosen thee, and not cast thee away. Fear thou not; for I am thy God. I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. Behold, all they that were incensed against thee shall be ashamed and confounded; they shall be as nothing, and they that strive with thee shall perish.” Isaiah 41: 8-11 (emphasis added)
Now, that is a pretty amazing thing, don’t you think? Can you imagine, for example, how you would feel if JEHOVAH said of you … that you were His friend?
Listen — when I think back on my own life … especially back in the day when I walked the earth in the darkness and ignorance of the idolatrous (see 1st and 2nd Commandments) “religion” of Anti-Christ (Roman Catholicism) … I don’t see anything in me that would begin to commend the high honor of being called… by God Himself… the friend of God. No. Instead, I see a long record of sins. Sins of idolatry (praying to saints) … sins of Sabbath breaking … so many sins that would demand (if indeed God is the Just Judge of all the Earth, which the Bible says He is) … eternal punishment in Hell.
Why Planet Earth Is DOOMED To Destruction
My friend, never forget something: God is holy. The standard He demands is perfection… ABSOLUTE PERFECTION!. When JEHOVAH created Adam and Eve, they were perfect. They were without sin. They were also the only human beings in the history of mankind to have free will. Free will in the sense of having the power to not sin. (Which is no longer the case. ALL men sin … in fact, every day.) But they fell. They willfully sinned against God’s explicit instructions and single restriction.
One tree, God said. Just this one tree. Stay away from this one tree and paradise is yours. Forever; for you and your children. Don’t touch it, don’t eat of its fruit. Just stay away from it. “For in the day that thou eatest thereof … thou shall surely die.”
But they didn’t believe their Maker and Friend. No. Instead, they committed high treason against JEHOVAH. They traded paradise and happiness and purity and eternal life … and peace of mind (which comes from having a clean conscious) … for one bite of the forbidden fruit. Eve because she was duped by Satan … and to satisfy her curiosity; Adam because he wasn’t strong enough to resist going the way of his beautiful wife. (Adam knew what he was doing.)
The old saying is true. Eve sinned first, but Adam sinned worse.
“And the serpent (Satan) said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die; For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.” Genesis 3: 4-5 (emphasis added)
Since Adam was … and is (so long as we’re apart from Christ and the new birth wrought by the Holy Spirit) … our federal head, all of mankind fell in him. Now … horror of horrors … we are ALL born into this world as guilty sinners … with the sentence of death and eternal damnation already stamped upon us … before we’ve even drawn our first breath. Hear the Holy spirit-inspired words of one of God’s prophets, King David, “the sweet psalmist of Israel” (2nd Samuel 23:1):
“Behold, I was shaped in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me.” Psalm 51:5
So that’s where mankind is now at. We’ve fallen from our original righteousness. God’s standard is perfection — the perfection that Adam and Eve possessed before they fell… before they committed that one single act of rebellion. You see, my friend, all it took was one lousy sin to plunge all of mankind into this abyss of our wicked, fallen world … and of inherited sin and death and coming judgment… that all of us now find ourselves in.
But, if you’re reading this, at least you’re still above ground.
You’re not down in Hell!
Not yet, anyway. And be thankful for that.
But, that is the destiny that now awaits you … unless… unless, that is, you can find a way to get back into the estate of the original righteousness of Adam and Eve before they sinned… back to the original righteousness that Adam and Eve had before they fell.
Christ is called the redeemer. (Galatians 3:13) Scripture also styles Him as the second Adam:
“And so it is written, the first man, Adam, was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit… the first man is of the earth, earthy; the second man is the Lord from Heaven.” 1st Corinthians 45, 47 (emphasis added)
So… now there is actually a way to lay hold of the righteousness that God requires for entrance into Heaven. And this righteousness is not just for the Jews of Old Testament times. No. This righteousness is now being offered to all of fallen mankind through the Person of God the Son.
Christ came down from Heaven above to pay for the sins of all of God the Father’s ELECT. Christ kept every one of God’s laws. He attained the required standard of perfection while He worked and walked and preached and performed all of His miracles while on earth.
And He was without sin. (John 8:46)
So now, we can all (Jew and Gentile) well appreciate what the Holy Spirit-inspired Apostle Paul has written for the comfort of all of God’s elect saints — those past, present and future saints — in Romans chapter 5:
“Therefore, being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, By whom we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God … For when we were without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward us in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement. Romans 5: 1-2; 6-11 (emphasis added)
Why You Need Mankind's Greatest Friend
Let me tell you, there were times in my life when I hadn’t been loyal to God … times when I had willfully sinned against his grace … times when it seemed to me I was skating on the edge of Hell. … times when I felt as though I was living my life so as to have become a castaway. (See 1st Corinthians 9:27)
Those were evil days. I sometimes thought I was fighting a losing battle against sin. But, looking back, what I have come to understand is that Christ never stopped interceding on my behalf. From the day I got born again (which was the day I was justified by grace through faith in the BLOOD ATONEMENT of the Lord Jesus Christ … meaning, the day I was judiciously acquitted from the condemnation of God’s moral laws) … Jesus Christ … Israel’s Messiah … the Savior of the world … has always been the great advocate for my soul. Hear, my friend, the testimony of Scripture:
“Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from Heaven; but my father giveth you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is he who cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world. Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread. And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life; he that cometh to me shall never hunger, and he that believeth on me shall never thirst… All that the father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.” John 6: 32-35;37 (Emphasis added)
“My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. And he is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.” 1st John 2: 1-2 (Emphasis added)
“Grace be unto you, and peace, from God, our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ. I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy, For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now, Being confident of this very thing, that he who hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ …” Philippians 1: 3-6 (Emphasis added)
The Scripture verses presented above include two important Biblical ideas:
1. Fallen mankind’s desperate need of Christ to be the advocate for our fallen, sin-cursed souls … (meaning … the Calvinist, biblical Doctrine of Total Depravity).
2. The fact that, in spite of our sinful natures (having fallen in Adam), all of God’s elect children — meaning those who have been chosen by God the Father to be justified by His grace through faith in Israel’s Messiah … the God Man Jesus Christ … will persevere unto the end, “come hell or high water.” In Reformed circles, where the full counsel of God is taught and preached, this is what is known as the Doctrine of the Perseverance of the Saints.
Again, let’s take a look at what two great Protestant creeds (which have been handed down to us as luscious fruit from God’s Protestant Reformation) have to say on the subject. As to point #1 above, listen to what the Heidelberg Catechism tells us:
Heidelberg Catechism, Lord's Day 1
1. Question: What is your only comfort in life and death?
Answer: That I, with body and soul, both in life and death, am not my own, but belong unto my faithful Savior Jesus Christ; who with His precious blood has fully satisfied for all my sins, and delivered me from the power of the devil; and so preserves me that without the will of my heavenly Father not a hair can fall from my head; yea, that all things must be subservient to my salvation, wherefore by His Holy Spirit He also assures me of eternal life, and makes me heartily willing and ready, henceforth, to live unto Him.
As to point #2 above, here’s what the Westminster Confession of Faith tells us about the biblical doctrine of the ultimate perseverance of God’s chosen people — both Jew AND previously heathen Gentiles, who have now been grafted into the Tree of Israel by God’s Great Commission and worldwide grace to what were previously heathen (and condemned) nations:
The Westminster Confession of Faith Chapter 17: Of the Perseverance of the Saints
1. They, whom God hath accepted in the Beloved, effectually called, and sanctified by his Spirit, can neither totally nor finally fall away from the state of grace, but shall certainly persevere therein to the end, and be eternally saved.
2. This perseverance of the saints depends not upon their own free will, but upon the immutability of the decree of election, flowing from the free and unchangeable love of God the Father; upon the efficacy of the merit and intercession of Jesus Christ, the abiding of the Spirit, and the seed of God within them, and the nature of the covenant of grace: from all which ariseth also the certainty and infallibility thereof.
3. Nevertheless, they may, through the temptations of Satan and of the world, the prevalency of corruption remaining in them, and the neglect of the means of their preservation, fall into grievous sins; and, for a time, continue therein; whereby they incur God’s displeasure, and grieve his Holy Spirit, come to be deprived of some measure of their graces and comforts, have their hearts hardened, and their consciences wounded; hurt and scandalize others, and bring temporal judgments upon themselves and others.
Let’s get back on course. As God’s Word tells us, God called Abraham His friend. Jesus Christ is the friend of sinners. Sinners like you … and sinners like me. In fact, one of the accusations against Christ by the Pharisees was just that. He was willing have SINNERS as friends:
“The son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, and friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified by her children.” Matthew 11: 19 (Emphasis added)
And shortly after saying this, Christ then extended to everyone present this, JEHOVAH’s great invitation:
“Come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart, and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Matthew 11: 28-30 (Emphasis added)
You just read what the God Man said, my friend: rest for our souls!
Yes, my beloved Jewish friend. Jehovah God called Abraham His friend. But here’s the amazing thing. Today, God calls us (fallen sons of Adam) friends… if we will but only believe God’s Gospel of pure Grace… and put our faith and trust in Israel’s Messiah … the God Man Jesus Christ:
“Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you. Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye shall go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. These things I command you, that ye love one another.” John 15: 15-17 (Emphasis added)
But Christ also draws a line in the sand. He tells us that if you do decide not make friends with God through faith alone in Christ alone (or by simply ignoring what you have just read), then be warned: you cannot possibly find either peace or favor with JEHOVAH:
“He that hateth me hateth my Father also.” John 15: 23
“He that believeth of the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.” John 3:36 (emphasis added)
“Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen. And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned… So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.” Mark 16: 14-16;19 (emphasis added)
Ah, my beloved Jewish friend. Please … PLEASE take heed of what you have just read. Could there be any more serious words in all of Scripture? Maybe, but I can’t think of any right now. Please, PLEASE listen to what your Messiah is saying. Christ is telling you that if you don’t believe that He is your Messiah … who came into this world to die for YOUR sins … then, my friend, your are DOOMED!
I ask you, could language be any clearer?
And what Christ has told us in the Scriptures equally applies to you Mohammedans. You see, if you sons and daughters of “Allah” misrepresent the Person of the God Man Jesus Christ … if you insist on saying that He was only a prophet … and not the eternally begotten I AM … then you too will be DAMNED. You too will follow your false prophet Mohammed down into Hell.
And by the way … if you are a man… there will be no harem of beautiful virgins awaiting you (contrary to the lies you’ve been fed by hate-filled Imams) on the other side. No. Instead, you will be surrounded by evil demons who will take great joy in tormenting you… for all of ETERNITY.
You know, it’s really not too far of a stretch to say that these words of Christ … in a very big way … sum up for all of fallen mankind the very meaning of life here on earth:
“He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.” Mark 16:16
Now, that is about as absolute … and black and white … and as clear-cut a propositional statement as anyone could possibly make, wouldn’t you agree?
But more than that, it is especially worth your while considering because it comes from the lips of the God Man Himself (1st Timothy 3:16) … the Creator of the Universe (Genesis 1:1 & John 1:3,10 & Colossians 1:16) … the only begotten of the Father (Psalm 2:7 and John 3:16) … Israel’s Messiah (John 4:25-26; John 20:31& Mark 14:61-62) … and the Judge of all the fallen sons and daughters of Adam (John 9:39; John 5:22-23).
Ah, my dearly beloved Jewish friend, I hope that by now … by God’s election and saving grace … your spiritual eyes are now being opened to see that Jesus Christ is, in fact, both your Messiah and your Savior. I hope that by now you are willing to leave off all morality and law keeping as a means of finding favor with JEHOVAH. Yes, that you would even be willing to go so far as to take you Talmud and throw it in the trash … just as I was willing to go against my family’s wishes by departing from the soul-damning, fake “religion” of Roman Catholicism. Once again, I would urge you to heed the words of Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world:
“Think not that I am come to send peace on earth; I came not to send peace, but a sword. For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. And a man’s foes shall be they of his own household. He that loveth father or mother more than me, is not worthy of me; and he that loveth son or daughter more than me, is not worthy of me. And he that taketh not his cross and foloweth after me, is not worthy of me. He that findeth his life shall lose it; and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.” Matthew 10: 34-39
“He that hateth me hateth my father also.” John 15:23 (emphasis added)
“Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not where thou goest; and how can we know the way? Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 14: 5-6 (emphasis added)
Once again, some rather clear-cut, black and white propositional statements that are worth thinking about, wouldn’t you say? Think, for example, of the implications of John 15:23 for the poor Mohammedan. For a Mohammedan to claim that the Lord Jesus Christ was merely a human prophet … and not the eternal I AM … that He was NOT begotten by the Father in eternity (which is what their Koran teaches) … is on the level of saying that George Washington, the great American patriot and father of our country, was a buck private in the Continental Army, rather than its commanding general.
To misrepresent the God Man the way they do makes them haters of Christ and therefore enemies of God the Father.

II. Second, God’s Word tells us that Abraham the friend of God and the father of the faithful ... offered blood sacrifices to Jehovah.
This FACT sheds light on a deep spiritual truth: one that is just as true today …in fact, this very second … as it was in Old Testament times. Yes … a life or death truth that every genuine Truth Seeker must know… and then appropriate to his life.
Why?
Because… it is a principal part of the doctrinal knowledge you must grasp intellectually … and understand in your mind … and which must sink down into your heart (meaning, into the deep recesses of your soul — the core of your being) … before you can be redeemed by God the Son… before you can ever hope to get OUT from under God’s wrath — and to PREVENT your being judicially sentenced by Christ (the Father’s appointed Judge of all the earth — see John 5:22-23) to an eternity in Hell on the day you die.
Again, this truth speaks to what I am now trying to prove to all of my beloved Jewish friends … to theologically challenged dispensationalists … and to everyone else who is not yet a Christian — including, by the way, JEHOVAH-hating Mohammedans and Mormons and Jehovah’s Witnesses — all of whom are followers of false prophets — “prophets” who have sinfully added to God’s pure and perfect revelation, the 66 books of the Bible. Prophets who have justly been sentenced by God to Hell… and who are there right this minute.
And the high truth I now refer to is this …
THE WHOLE BIBLE IS CHRISTIANITY!
Which means that, just like I partially stated earlier near the top of this page, ALL of JEHOVAH’S beloved elect saints in Old Testament times were Justified by Faith Alone in the Atoning Blood and Righteousness of Israel’s Coming Messiah… Alone!
Yes, it’s true. JEHOVAH actually did called Abraham His friend.
But, it is also true that Abraham — the Father of the Faithful — well understood that the ONLY way to approach JEHOVAH was on the basis of his recognition that he himself was a sinner… and that his sins had to be judicially put away … through blood sacrifices at the altar.
What’s that? Prove it, you say? O.K., I will. Let’s keep going. Are you with me? Good. Hang tight.
As my first piece of evidence for the above-stated propositions, let’s pull out a little gem of polished truth put forth from a small group of God’s great Protestant Reformers — the authors of the Westminster Confession of Faith, perhaps Protestantism’s greatest creed:
The Westminster Confession of Faith Chapter 11, Section 6:Of Justification
1. The justification of believers under the Old Testament was, in all these respects, one and the same with the justification of believers under the New Testament.
As Scripture proofs, these Holy Spirit-enlightened (notice I didn’t say inspired) men used Galatians 3:9 and 13-14 … Romans 4: 6-8 and 22-24 … Romans 10: 6-13 … and Hebrews 13:8.
Since the Holy Bible is one book (66 books comprising both the Old and New Testaments) … the ultimate author of which was … and is … the Holy Spirit Himself… the New Testament proofs for the proposition that all of God’s Old Testament elect saints were Justified by Faith Alone in the Atoning Blood and Righteousness of Israel’s Coming Messiah Alone … are weighty and, in fact, indisputable.
We’ll get to some of those self-evident New Testament scripture passages in just a minute.
But first, let’s briefly go back to God’s Holy Spirit-inspired Book of Genesis to take a look at some of Abraham’s — the father of the faithful — worship practices.
“And the Lord appeared unto Abram, and said, unto thy seed will I give this land; and there builded he an altar unto the Lord, who appeared unto him. And he removed from there unto a mountain on the east of Bethel, and pitched his tent, having Bethel on the west, and Hai on the east; and there he builded an altar unto the Lord, and called upon the name of the Lord.” Genesis 12:7-8 (emphasis added)
And …
“Then Abram removed his tent, and came and dwelt in the plain of Mamre, which is in Hebron, and built there an altar unto the Lord. Genesis 13:18 (emphasis added)
And …
“And he believed in the Lord; and he counted it to him for righteousness. And he said unto him, I am the Lord who brought thee out of Ur of the Chaldeans to give thee this land to inherit it. And he said, Lord God, whereby shall I know that I shall inherit it? And he said unto him, Take me an heifer of three years old, and a she-goat of three years old, and a ram of three years old, and a trutledove, and a young pigeon. And he took unto him all these, and divided them in the midst, and laid each piece one against another: but the birds divided he not. And when the fowls came down upon the carcasses, Abram drove them away. And when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and, lo, an horror of great darkness fell upon him. And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years; And also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and afterward they shall come out with great substance. And thou shalt go to thy fathers in peace; thou shalt be buried in a good old age. But in the fourth generation they shall come here again; for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full. And it came to pass that, when the sun went down, and it was dark, behold a smoking furnace, and a burning lamp that passed between those pieces. In the same day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river of Euphrates … Genesis 15:6-18 (emphasis added)
Here again, we see the re-ratification of JEHOVAH’S covenant of grace with fallen, sin-cursed mankind through the God-directed ordinance of … the blood sacrifice.
For that is what altars were for — the slaughtering of animals as substitutionary sacrifices to God. Moreover, my friend … nothing has changed. The ONLY WAY for YOU or me or anyone else to approach JEHOVAH is through the God-ordained blood atonement and sacrifice of Israel’s Messiah … the God Man …the Lord Jesus Christ.
Let’s go back in time to the Garden of Eden and to the Fall and to our first parents Adam and Eve after they sinned against God by eating the forbidden fruit. Here is what we read:
“For Adam also and for his wife did the Lord make coats of skins, and clothed them.” Genesis 3:21
We have here recorded for us mankind’s first sacrifice. Note that it was God Himself who made the blood sacrifice; note that it was God Himself who instituted the sacrifice; and note that it was God Himself who then covered Adam and Eve with the formerly blood-stained skins of the slain animals.
Here recorded for us is the first instance of mankind’s parents being justified (judicially acquitted, or found not guilty) by God’s grace through the provision of the blood sacrifice.
Here was the first animal sacrifice on planet earth, and Able, their second son, learned the lesson well. His blood sacrifice was acceptable to God, and right now, Able is in Heaven; contrasted with that, Cain’s man-made “fruits-of-the-field” sacrifice was NOT accepted by JEHOVAH… and right now poor Cain has been banished to the dark and terrifying nether regions of Hell.
And remember: this first blood sacrifice, which was undertaken on behalf of Adam and Eve by God Himself … took place long before nearly all of mankind was wiped clean off the face of the earth by God’s Great Flood … long before God renewed his covenant of grace with Abraham the father of the faithful … and long before the numerous animal sacrifices were instituted by God through the Holy Spirit-inspired iron man, Moses — and which could only be carried out by the God-ordained Levitical priests, in the desert tabernacle of the wilderness years and Solomon’s temple.
So … unless you are willfully (or judicially) blind, you cannot ignore the FACT… that the ONLY way any human being can approach JEHOVAH is on the ground (or basis) of the blood sacrifice.
Yes, my friend. The evidence is weighty and irrefutable: Abraham the friend of God and father of the Faithful was Justified by Faith Alone in the Atoning Blood and Righteousness of Israel’s Coming Messiah Alone.
What’s that you say? You tell me you’re still not convinced? You still want more proof? O.K., you asked for it. But …just as an aside… let me tell you — you’re really making me work.
But you know what? I think you’re worth it. As a matter of fact, I know you’re worth it. How do I know that? Well that’s easy. Because … you’ve come this far with me … and so… I’m going to do my best to go the extra mile for you, and with you.
But listen — before we travel down to Egypt to see the blood sacrifice basis upon which JEHOVAH saved His chosen people from remaining as bounden slaves there, I hope you’re at least beginning to see that you’ve got NOTHING to bring to JEHOVAH… other than your sins.
All “works” are out — Including law-keeping, church and synagogue membership, sacraments … the keeping of so-called “holidays” (other than the Christian Sunday Sabbath)… and yeah … you heard me right… the whole kit and caboodle of un-biblical satanic man-made hogwash and swill. My friend, IF you want to be saved from being judged by God for your sins … THEN … I am telling you…ITS ALL GOTTA GO!
Friend, I’ll say it again: it’s faith in the atoning blood and righteousness of Christ alone. That is what you need. Nothing else will do, and nothing else added to it will do. It’s all of Christ … or all of nothing. It’s ALL of CHRIST ALONE… or ALL of HELL FOREVER. This is what God’s pure and holy Word the Bible teaches from cover to cover … from the book of Genesis to the last book of Revelation — yes, all 66 Holy Spirit-inspired books.

How God Saved His People The Israelites From the Bondage of Slavery In Egypt
Listen — You wanted more evidence of the biblical truth of Justification by Faith Alone in Israel’s Coming Messiah Alone … as it was applied to God’s people in Old Testament times, right?
O.K., here goes.
To this day, the Jewish Passover is thought to be a most holy day in the minds of all Jewish people everywhere. And rightly so. For it commemorates one of the central acts and displays of JEHOVAH’S mighty power over His creation — as well as His love and grace and mercy and covenant faithfulness to His beloved people of Old Testament times, God’s chosen people for more than three millenniums, the Jews.
I presume you are familiar with the historical biblical account revealed to us in Exodus. Having meted out nine of ten devastating plagues upon the Egyptian people and their lands, God’s final destructive blow was to be delivered upon the first born of all the families in Egypt.
With one exception, that is — the Israelites.
But, with one proviso. You know what that was, right? It was the blood.
Yes, it was the mark of the blood of the Pascal Lamb, smeared upon the lintel and the side posts of their homes that stayed Jehovah’s hand from bringing death and destruction (and Hell) upon the firstborn Israelite of every family and household living in Egypt.
“And the Lord spoke unto Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying, This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you. Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house … Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats, And ye shall keep it until the fourteenth day of the same month; and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening. And they shall take of the blood and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it… For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the first born in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment; I am the Lord. And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are; and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.” Exodus 12: 1-3, 5-7, 12-13 (emphasis added)
Now, you may be one, but you don’t have to be one … a genius… to figure out that there was nothing here — no, not one thing of their own devising (works) — that was done on the part of Hebrew people to save themselves from the impending destruction at JEHOVAH’S hand.
Yet, they were, in fact, delivered from avenging sword of the Lord, weren’t they?
But how? The answer is simple. By doing exactly what JEHOVAH, in His mercy and grace, told them to do. And … moreover… by doing it with the blood of the Pascal Lamb.
Charles Spurgeon, the man I think of as being “the Shakespeare of Protestantism,” provides for us a number of apt observations about what was actually going on in the minds of God and His people the Israelites on the night of the exodus, in a sermon entitled “The Blood”:
“Quake for fear, all you who have sin within you, for when God walks through the streets, sword in hand, will he not smite you all? But listen! The voice of covenant mercy speaks! God’s children are safe, even though an angry God is in the streets. As they are safe from the rod of the wicked, so are they safe from the sword of justice — always and forever safe — for there is not a hair of the head of an Israelite that was so much as touched — Jehovah kept them safe beneath His wings. While He did tear his enemies like a lion, yet did he protect his children, every one of them! But, beloved, while this is always true, that God’s people are safe, there is another fact that is equally true, namely, that God’s people are only safe because He sees the mark of blood on their brow. What is the basis of that great truth of God that all things work together for good to them that love God (Romans 8:28)? What is the cause that all things so produce good to them but this — that they are bought with the precious blood of Christ? Therefore it is that nothing can hurt them because the blood is upon them and every evil thing must pass them by. It was so that night in Egypt. God Himself was abroad with His sword. But he spared them because He saw the mark of blood on the lintel and on the two side posts. And so it is with us. In the day when God in His fierce anger shall come forth from His dwelling place to frighten the earth with terrors and to condemn the wicked, we shall be secure! If covered with the Savior’s righteousness and and sprinkled with His blood, we are found in Him!”
And from the same sermon …
“Christ Jesus, too, like the lamb, was not only a divinely appointed victim, but He was spotless. Had there been one sin in Christ, He had not been capable of being our Savior. But he was without spot of blemish — without original sin, without any practical transgression. In Him was no sin, though He was “tempted in all points like we are.” Here, again, is the reason why the blood is able to save — because it is the blood of an innocent victim, a victim because His death lay in us and not in Himself. When the poor innocent lamb was put to death by the head of the household of Egypt, I can imagine that thoughts like these ran through his mind. “Ah,” he would say, as he struck the knife into the lamb, “This poor creature dies, not for any guilt that it has ever had, but to show me that I am guilty and that I deserve to die like this.” Turn, then, your eyes to the cross and see Jesus bleeding there and dying for you. Remember — “For sins not His own, he died to atone.”
